ScholarshipsWhy the Todd Robiner Scholarship?Click here to view and download instructions and an application. A long list of accomplishments, credentials, tributes, distinctions, honors, achievements and awards are usually accorded to an individual who has lived a very long life... unfortunately... not so with TODD ROBINER. Todd exemplified the "true spirit" of ROTARY... Service to the Community... The inventory of accomplishment seems endless... especially for one so young. He
was a popular pre-med student who excelled in academics, athletics and music.
He was a fiery football player, a championship wrestler, a talented musician
and a scholar at Palm Beach Lakes High School in West Palm Beach. Todd played football and in the jazz band at Knox College in Illinois, where he received multiple scholarships. He was nominated for early admission to Rush Medical School. He also played in the Jazz band at the University of Florida. In the spring of his freshman year at Knox, he was diagnosed with leukemia. Like everything else he did in life, he fought the disease with a cheerful vengeance. However; on August 20, 1994, after successfully surviving a bone marrow transplant, he relapsed and succumbed to his long battle with the disease at age 21. He was a credit to his family, his friends and his community... providing service help to all in need... in true ROTARY CLUB tradition. As a result of his outstanding achievements, the Village of Royal Palm Beach re-named and dedicated a park in his honor. Had he lived, there is no telling what this fine young man might have accomplished. Therefore, as a further tribute, the ROYAL PALM BEACH ROTARY CLUB scholarship was named in his memory. The scholarship was established to reward other graduating high school students living in zip code 33411 who similarly excel in pursuing their goals in life and providing service to their community.
